As a former 18-year State Bar prosecutor, Attorney Erin Joyce is an expert in legal ethics. Erin has extensive experience in State Bar investigations and disciplinary proceedings as well as 25 years of civil litigation experience.

Erin was admitted in 1990 and spent eight years practicing at an intellectual property firm before prosecuting for the State Bar from 1997 through 2016. With over 20 years of experience in attorney discipline cases, Erin has a comprehensive understanding of how State Bar investigations and proceedings unfold. She has tried dozens of State Bar trials and several appeals.

Prior to launching Erin Joyce Law, Erin served the Los Angeles Fire Department as a Chief Special Investigator, as a prosecutor for the State Bar, and as a lawyer for private practices. In addition to fighting for her clients, Erin contributes to the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Professional Responsibility and Ethics Committee and its Small Firm and Sole Practitioner Section. Erin is on the faculty of Abraham Lincoln University teaching advanced legal ethics and on the California Lawyers Association Solo Section Executive Committee and Health and Wellness Committee.
Erin graduated with honors from UCLA and received her J.D. from Southwestern Law School, where she was first in class.

Whole New Battleground When the Bar reaches out, you wonder if you should just give the Bar everything as you have nothing to hide. Then you realize this is NOT your specialty. This is a whole new battleground and you don't know the rules. You do not use a dentist for heart surgery. I am so glad I reached out to Erin Joyce Law. Everyone there was professional. They made sure I didn't miss deadlines. When you want to make sure there are no mistakes and the matter can be resolved quickly, you want the best. This is the only firm I would recommend.

Ethics/reinstatement My husband was a lawyer who referred cases to a law firm which gave him referral fees. I was a lawyer as well but I became inactive several years ago, When my husband passed away, there were many remaining cases that he had referred but had not been settled. The firm said I could receive a portion of those fees but only if I was reinstated as a lawyer. Their theory was that you cannot pay referral fees to a non-lawyer, which is usually the rule. I called Erin Joyce who immediately said those fees were an asset of his estate and that I did not need to be reinstated. She wrote me a comprehensive legal memo to that effect which I presented to the firm. I received the fees (they insisted on a lesser rate) without being reinstated. Erin Joyce and her firm were thorough and communicated with me to be sure they had a full understanding of the facts. They were extremely helpful in tho comprehensive legal memo they sent to me so that I received what was rightfully mine, I highly recommend her firm to anyone with similar issues.
